California Department of Transportation Announces Interstate 80 Lane Closures and Delays

Parts of Interstate 80 to be closed for nearly one week. Here’s why

The California Department of Transportation is issuing a notice to drivers regarding lane closures and delays along Interstate 80 in Northern California. Following an extensive field review of the I-80 corridor in 2023, Caltrans discovered significant damage, including moderate to high levels of rutting due to chain wear.

These findings have prompted Caltrans to schedule extended lane closures aimed at minimizing the project’s duration for repairing I-80. Simultaneously, these closures are expected to expedite the project’s completion while enhancing worker safety.

Caltrans urges motorists to be vigilant and adhere to construction zone speed limits for the safety of both travelers and construction crews.
